My Thoughts on Bloomington

As of right now, our top choice for schools is Indiana in Bloomington. Yesterday Cameron and I did a little research on Bloomington. It turns out that it is very very similar to Provo in the size of the town. About 70% of the population are students so there are a LOT of rental units and apartments for about the same price as in Provo. It's about 40 miles from Indianapolis (similar to Provo to Salt Lake) and the cost of living is actually thought to be slightly lower in Bloomington than in Provo.
The weather is very similar to Provo, getting up to averages in the high 80s in the summer and down to lows around 20 in the winter time. Not much snow - we would really be practically in Kentucky.
There are 3 wards in Bloomington plus a university student ward. Bloomington is in the Louisville, Kentucky temple district (it's about 2 hours away) but is also 4 hours from the Colombus, Ohio, St Louis, Missouri, and the Chicago, Illinois temples.
There are two national forests and a national wildlife refuge plus quite a few historic landmarks in the County. All in all, I don't think I'd mind living there one bit.

The Second Yes and a Not-So-Fun Adventure

So Boston University also called and emailed Cameron yesterday to tell him he is accepted. Cameron's professors were really impressed with how quickly he found out and said it was a good sign for the other schools as well. Both Indiana and Boston have offered to fly him out so he can look around and meet the faculty. Way to go Cameron!!
On a less fun note, this last week both of us got hit with food poisoning and it was really really not fun. It's been a long time since I have felt so miserable. We went to our friends house for a super bowl party Sunday night and then on Tuesday morning everyone who went woke up throwing up. I think the pregnancy made it worse for me. I was over the toilet about every 20 minutes for a day and a half no matter if I had anything in my stomach or not. But luckily it goes as quickly as it comes and we are now recovered and excited to enjoy our long weekend together.

The First "Yes"!

Cameron just got accepted to Indiana State! It's not his number one choice but it's nice to know that we have at least one "Yes" under our belts. These would be Cameron's top choices: 1-Ohio State in Columbus, 2-Arizona (I don't remember which arizona school it was), 3- Penn State in University Park, 4-Indiana State in Bloomington, 5-Boston University in Boston. Now we just have to wait to see what the others say.

Making It Officially Known

Allrighty-o. So, I haven't posted for a long time but it really doesn't seem like there has been a lot to tell. The holidays were great. We got to spend time with the Briscoes and the Paces. Cameron has his grad school applications in and now we just need to wait to hear from them. And our biggest news of the year so far . . . we are going to have a baby. The funny thing is that the due date is August 22nd which is right about when we were planning to move to grad school - and most of the schools we have applied to are across the country. Should be a fun adventure!
